It was Diwali night, and the entire village was illuminated with lamps. People were distributing sweets and lighting firecrackers in their homes. But some mischievous kids from the village had a different idea for the night.
Kid 1: “Let’s go to the tree outside the village. Everyone says a witch lives there. Let’s see if she celebrates Diwali too!”
Kid 2 (nervously): “Are you sure it’s a good idea to go there? I’ve heard that witch is very dangerous.”
Kid 3 (excitedly): “Come on, it’s Diwali! It’ll be fun!”
The three kids gathered the courage and headed toward the old tree outside the village. When they reached, they were astonished to see lamps lit all around the tree, and there, in the center, was a witch in a white saree, enthusiastically lighting firecrackers. She was spinning a wheel firecracker in her hand and laughing loudly.
Witch (laughing): “Wow, the beauty of Diwali is mesmerizing! Look at this wheel firecracker spinning and spreading colorful lights!”
The kids were amazed to see the witch celebrating Diwali. Slowly, they decided to approach her and talk.
Kid 1 (gathering courage): “Witch aunty, can we celebrate Diwali with you too?”
Witch (smiling): “Come, come, kids! Diwali is for everyone. Today, we’ll light lots of firecrackers together. Look, I have gathered so many of them!”
The witch handed them sparklers, flowerpots, and spinning firecrackers, and then lit a big rocket herself. As soon as it burst, colorful lights filled the sky, and the kids jumped with joy.
Kid 2 (excitedly): “Wow! I’ve never seen a rocket like this. Is it magic?”
Witch (laughing): “Yes, it’s a little bit of magic and a lot of love. Diwali brings happiness for everyone. Now, watch this special firecracker that will shower colorful flowers.”
The witch took out a magical firecracker that looked very different. As soon as she lit it, thousands of colorful flowers spread across the sky. The kids clapped and laughed out loud.
Kid 3: “Witch aunty, you are so much fun! Can we celebrate Diwali with you like this every year?”
Witch (smiling): “Of course! Diwali is a time to celebrate happiness. Come, let’s light the sparklers together now.”
The kids and the witch lit sparklers together, filling the surroundings with bright lights. The witch and the kids set off many firecrackers – flowerpots, wheels, rockets, celebrating Diwali with great enthusiasm. The witch’s laughter and the kids’ happiness echoed all around.
Finally, when all the firecrackers were done and there was a glow all around, the witch looked at the kids lovingly and said with a smile:
Witch: “A wonderful and joyful Diwali to all! Happy Diwali to everyone!”
